What happens when your quota runs out

A clear signal, never fake data
Usage is counted on our side against your subscription, not trusted from the browser. When the allowance is exhausted, a query returns a structured quota_exceeded (upgrade_required) response with no items in it.
Handling it in your UI
- Show the quota state instead of "no results" — the component does this for you.
- Keep whatever the user has already typed or selected.
- Upgrade your plan, or wait for the allowance to reset.
Requests that are never billed
Rejected requests — an unknown key, a disallowed origin, a query shorter than your list’s minimum — are not counted, and neither is the bootstrap call.
